Lisbon Francesinha Ranking — Now Live on BestFrancesinha
By bestfrancesinha
Lisbon asked. BestFrancesinha delivered.
After covering the Porto district — Porto, Gaia, Matosinhos, Maia, Gondomar, Valongo, Póvoa de Varzim, Vila do Conde, and Braga — it's time for the capital. The new Lisbon ranking is now live on the site, with the same treatment we give Porto: Bayesian algorithm, real Google data, automatic weekly updates.
What the ranking is and how it works
This is not a curated list or an editorial guide. BestFrancesinha automatically collects public Google review data and applies a Bayesian scoring formula: each restaurant's rating is weighted by its review volume, preventing a newly opened restaurant with a handful of customers from distorting the results. Only sustained quality — across hundreds or thousands of visits — rises to the top.
The ranking updates every week. No paid placements. No commercial partnerships. Just the data.
Lisbon on the francesinha map
The francesinha is a Porto dish — but it increasingly makes sense in Lisbon. The capital has an active food scene and growing demand for the dish. The new ranking reflects that: there are restaurants in Lisbon serving genuine quality francesinhas, with hundreds of reviews to back it up.
A new addition to the site
BestFrancesinha started in Porto because that's where the francesinha comes from. Lisbon is the natural next step — and not the last. The goal is to cover every Portuguese city where the dish has a real presence and enough reviews for the algorithm to work with rigour.
