Mirone – Cachorrinhos da Baixa is the first-ever Francesinha of the Month winner

We have a winner. Mirone – Cachorrinhos da Baixa, on Rua da Picaria, is the very first spot to win Francesinha of the Month — the award that each month honours the fastest-rising place in the whole country.

And there's a nice irony here. Mirone is, first and foremost, a Porto-style hot-dog spot — that was the recipe that brought the project to downtown Porto when it opened on 4 April this year, the brand's third house after Gaia and Mirone Underground by the Douro. But along the way, its house-made-sauce francesinha took on a life of its own and is now one of the most ordered dishes on the menu. It was that very francesinha that put Mirone on top of this first edition.

The numbers speak for themselves: over the period, Mirone went from 331 to 374 reviews — 43 more reviews, a 13% jump — while keeping a top average rating. It was the best performance among the eight eligible spots in Porto and the fastest sustained rise in the whole country.

But why is this award different from the main ranking? BestFrancesinha's ranking rewards consistency over time, and naturally tends to be dominated by well-established spots with thousands of reviews. Francesinha of the Month tells the other story: the one about who's growing right now. Instead of the total number of reviews, it measures relative growth within the month. It's an award for momentum, not size.

The rules make it meaningful. There's a single national winner each month. Spots already in the national Top 10 are excluded. And there's a quality requirement: a spot is only eligible if its average rating hasn't dropped over the month. Mirone met all of this on merit.

This was also a debut edition, and a special one: the award launched mid-June, with the reference point frozen on 15 June 2026, giving this first edition a window of about two weeks. From July, Francesinha of the Month runs over full months.

Mirone – Cachorrinhos da Baixa now goes down in the award's history as the first name on a list that will grow month after month.
